Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is a Federally funded gift aid program that you do not repay. Eligibility is determined by the FAFSA. Pell Grants are generally awarded only to undergraduate students—those who haven't earned a bachelor's or graduate degree. Your Pell Grant award is based on your course load. In some cases, you may have to repay financial aid funds if you drop courses.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
FSEOGs are awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need—those with the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC) numbers. Federal Pell Grant recipients receive priority for FSEOG awards. To be eligible you must complete the FAFSA before April 1.
Academic Competitive Grant
This is a renewable Federal grant available to Pell Grant recipients. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the Financial Services Office is provided with an official high school transcript, in order to determine eligibility. Students must also complete the FAFSA. Qualifications for this grant are as follows:
- Must be a Pell Grant recipient
- Must be a United States citizen
- Must be enrolled full-time
- Must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year degree program
- Must demonstrate need
- Must be a first or second year student
Federal work-study
Work-study provides jobs for undergraduates and graduates with financial need, where you can work and attend school. The Federal Work Study Program pays a percentage of your wages for the position you're hired for, though your earnings cannot exceed the amount of your award. You may work on or off campus and you will be paid at least $7.15 working an average of 15-20 hours per week. You may refuse any job offered, but if you accept the position you are expected to continue employment with that employer for the entire semester.
