Currently the Health Sciences Department has several courses offered through WebCT. Our distance learning program allows students to study from home for most of the core courses in the Medical Billing/Coding and the Medical Transcription programs. Many of our finest students complete their formal medical billing/coding or medical transcription education and training from home. Distance, personal situations, or family responsibilities make it impossible for many students to enroll in the traditional college courses. You may be facing a situation that requires you to learn and eventually work from your own home.
The education and training required for a career in medical billing/coding or medical transcription is ideally suited for learning from home if you enroll in a quality distance education program with well-qualified, experienced and caring instructors. Carefully consider your options. The course you take will determine your future success in the field of medical billing/coding or medical transcription. The best bargain a school can offer you is the ability to get the job you want when you graduate.
Students submit and receive assignments via WebCT so close contact is maintained using the internet. Students become part of the program even though they do not have a physical presence in the classroom. Working as a distance education student allows flexibility in choosing the hours of study.
A student choosing this method of instruction should be highly motivated and proficient in computer skills including downloading, uploading, MS Word, e-mail, and Internet browsing to achieve success. Students are required to provide their own computer equipment. This includes establishing an Internet connection with e-mail account, MS Word and supplies.
