Cox College is proud to introduce a Masters of Science in Nursing program. We offer three tracks; Clinical Nurse Leader, Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator.
Purpose
To grow and educate nursing professionals to keep up with the demands of healthcare. "Cox College is committed to excellence by meeting the educational needs of students and the health care community." This mission is the reason we have developed a graduate level program. The increasing need for nurses equates to a high demand for educators.
Also offered is an RN to MSN option allows registered nurses with a diploma or associate of science degree the option to achieve their Masters degree while working on their bachelors degree. Nine credit hours of MSN electives may be used as dual enrolled credits that work towards the BSN and MSN program. Further program information
Steps to apply
- Submit Cox College Graduate application
- Complete FAFSA for Student Loan Eligibility
- Submit RN licence
- Submit copy of BLS certification
- Submit personal essay. "Why do you want to pursue an MSN degree and how will you accomplish your goal?"

Programs offered
Clinical NurseLeader (CNL) - those seeking advancement to administrative and/or clinical leadership roles within health care organizations.
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) - those seeking to become Advanced Practice Nurses (APRN) who provide primary health care to clients across the lifespan in almost every patient care setting.
Nurse Educator (NE) - those who wish to teach nursing in higher education settings or provide education to staff in other health care settings.

The program consists of:
- Two 8-week blocks during the spring semester
- One 8-week block during the summer semester
- Two 8-week blocks during the fall semester
*Classes will be enhanced online or hybrid online, allowing you to continue working as you broaden your education.
Program total: 36 credit hours
21 hours core coursework 6 hours specialized coursework 6 hours clinical practicum and research project
Clinical Nurse Leader
The MSN Clinical Nurse Leader program is for those baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses those seeking advancement to administrative and/or clinical leadership roles within health care organizations. Proposed course work includes leadership and organizational theory related to all aspects of resource (fiscal and human) management and utilization. Evidence-based practice concepts are included to inform design, implementation and evaluation of client outcomes.

- Clinical Nurse Leader practicum and research
- Human Resource Management
- Financial statistics of health care management
Family Nurse Practitioner
The MSN Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program is for baccalaureate prepared registered nurses those seeking to become Advanced Practice Nurses (APRN) who provide primary health care to clients across the lifespan in almost every patient care setting.
Course requirements:
- Population specific clinical courses
- FNP practicum and evidence-based research
Nurse Educator
The MSN Nurse Educator program is for those baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses those who wish to teach nursing in higher education settings or provide education to staff in other health care settings. Proposed coursework includes research, evidence-based practice, nursing and education theory, and information technology, with an emphasis on the application of concepts to the nurse educator role.

- Educational theory and practice
- Instructional strategies and technologies
- Nurse Educator practicum and research
Financial Aid Graduate and professional students are not eligible for federal grant aid, but may be eligible for federal Stafford loans. The subsidized loan limit is $8,500 per academic year and the unsubsidized loan limit is $12,000 per academic year. To apply for federal funds, the student must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
