At Cox College, students have the option to begin their educational journey to nursing by obtaining the ASN degree. At this level students will study nursing, and upon entry to the ASN program, students maintaining a full-time study, have the ability to graduate in two years.
Graduates will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®). After passing this examination, they will be eligible to begin a career as a registered nurse.
ASN graduate outcome criteria
Upon completion of the program of study, the graduate will be able to:

Utilize knowledge from nursing, behavioral and natural sciences to apply the nursing process in providing direct care for individuals and members of a family or group with well-defined nursing diagnoses in structured health care settings;

ASN graduation requirements
Every candidate for a degree is responsible for meeting all of the requirements for graduation. The responsibility for understanding and meeting graduation requirements rests entirely with the student.
The ASN degree requires:

Satisfactory completion (C or better) of all specified courses in the curriculum plan |
|
|
Completion of second year nursing courses with a minimum of 19 hours of credit granted by Cox College |
|
|
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on completion of required courses for the ASN program; and |
|
|
Completion of all nursing courses within five years of admission in the ASN program. |
Deadline for applying for graduation is published on the academic calendar. If a student does not complete the final course requirements, a new degree application must be submitted.
