Cox College has a rich, 100-year history of providing quality health care education in Springfield and southwest Missouri. We began as Burge School of Nursing in 1907, and have since educated more than 2,700 diploma graduates. Those individuals have served as the backbone of the nursing community in our region and beyond. Recognizing that health care in general and the nursing profession in particular are constantly changing, Burge School of Nursing become Cox College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 1995. Today, Cox College provides educational tracks leading to either an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 1999 the Health Sciences department was established and now includes Medical Transcription and Medical Coding/Billing certificates as well as a Dietetic Internship program. Watch for additional health sciences programs.

Although Burge School of Nursing is well known in the region, Cox College of Nursing and Health Sciences seems to be one of the areas best kept secrets.
